My Morning Jacket Play Final Pre-Hiatus Show in the US

My Morning Jacket had fans on pins and needles last night, anxious to hear what the band would play for their last show in America before their 2018 touring hiatus.

At Broomfield, Colo.‘s 1st Bank Center, MMJ opened with the crescendoing track “Victory Dance,” complete with a horn section. The additional musicians played on several songs throughout the night, including “Evil Urges,” “Holdin’ On To Black Metal,” and the live debut of “Magic Bullet.” Released as a single in 2016, “Magic Bullet” was originally accompanied by an essay stating its intention as a call for peace in America.

“Violence is never the answer,” the band wrote. “Only love. We all need to be a part of the discussion. Part of the solution. How long will it take before we realize- we are all the same. This is not idealistic dreaming. This is a fact- we all want only to love and be loved. To nurture and protect those we love.”

My Morning Jacket echoed this intention in their nine-song encore, that featured covers of Burt Bacharach’s “What The World Needs Now Is Love” and The Beatles’ “All You Need is Love.”

The band closed out the night with their classic “One Big Holiday,” which also acted as a reminder to fans that despite their upcoming hiatus MMJ will still be performing at their One Big Holiday destination event this March in the Dominican Republic.
