As The String Cheese Incident began their third set at the Capitol Theatre last night, de facto spokesman Bill Nershi introduced a new song entitled “Magical Bubbles.”

“It’s getting close to that time of the night, and that time of the year; turning over the calendar, thinking of all the things that can be 2018 and years beyond,” he said. “It’s a magical time right now, when we’re on the cusp. We’re going to play a tune that we haven’t played in front of anybody. It’s all about ringing in the new year.”

Earlier in the night, Colorado jamband opened the show with Song In My Head tune “Can’t Wait Another Day” before throwing it back to Outside Inside‘s “Black And White.” A standout jam as always, the set two closer of “Restless Wind” (followed by the equally rocking “Texas”) had all 1,800 fans at the Capitol Theatre dancing. “Restless Wind” in particular had a funk breakdown in the first section that was a delightful bit of improvisation.

The band encored with “Rollover”>“Valley of the Jig.”

The next announced String Cheese Incident shows will be the band’s three-night run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre from July 20-22.
