In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, famed guitarist Eric Clapton said he’s experiencing hearing loss and ringing in his ears, also known as tinnitus.

“The only thing I’m concerned with now is being in my 70s and being able to be proficient. I mean, I’m going deaf, I’ve got tinnitus, my hands just about work,” he admitted.

This is not the first time the former Cream/Derek and the Dominos guitarist has been plagued by heath issues. In a 2016 interview he described a struggle with peripheral neuropathy, a nerve condition that causes lower back and leg pain.

Earlier that same year he said that his newest album I Still Do may be his last.

Clapton’s only upcoming tour date is a sold-out performance in London’s Hyde Park on July 8, featuring Santana, Steve Winwood and Gary Clark Jr.
