Following a successful inaugural event in 2017, the Relix Media Conference will return to the Brooklyn Bowl from May 8-9, 2018.

The two day event will feature panels, presentations and discussions with some of the top names in the music industry. Intended to educate aspiring music professionals and further inform music fans, last year’s conference included enlightening conversations on talent buying, publicity, ticketing, event/festival planning, political activism and more. Featured speakers included representatives from top-tier companies like City Winery, The Bowery Presents, AEG Presents in Colorado, HeadCount, SongKick, Newport Folk Festival, Lockn’, CID Entertainment, Big Hassle Media and Superfly as well as members of the Relix family like co-Editors-in-Chief Dean Budnick and Mike Greenhaus. Umphrey’s McGee manager Vince Iwinski and Warren Haynes manager Stef Scamard also attended.

The undisputed highlight of last year’s conference was a candid discussion between legendary promoter Ron Delsener and Brooklyn Bowl co-founder Peter Shapiro. “Right here I have live music in New York at it’s best,” longtime rock journalist and moderator David Fricke said, gesturing to the two promoters. Shapiro discussed his past at New York’s famed Wetlands venue in the ‘90s, his founding of Brooklyn Bowl and his orchestrating of the Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well reunions in 2015.

“From an attendee’s perspective, it was compelling and educational while also fun,” Baeble Music wrote after the event. “Getting to not only listen to the best of the industry speak, but also interact with them was a unique experience unlike any other.”
