According to officials at the Columbia, Md. venue, at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, the roof of Merriweather Post Pavilion caved in. There were no injuries.

As part of a five year renovation project, the roof of the amphitheater was in the middle of being hydraulically lifted and repositioned when it unexpectedly collapsed due to gusting wind.

Officials acknowledge the incident as a setback, but not a death sentence for the historic venue that has hosted acts like the Who, Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Phish and many more over its long history. In an official statement, the venue said that they will start rebuilding immediately and MPP’s 2018 season will still go on as planned.
