On January 25, New York’s famed Apollo Theater will host a special tribute to late legend Otis Redding featuring house band The Dap-Kings and hostess Whoopi Goldberg, and more special guests have been added to the bill, including Aloe Blacc, Booker T. Jones, Michelle Williams (of Destiny’s Child), Ruth B and Nikka Costa.

Dubbed An Evening of Respect, the event will honor the iconic vocalist, along with the 50th anniversary of his ubiquitous hit “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay,” which Redding co-wrote with guitarist Steve Cropper and released in 1967, while benefitting The Otis Redding Foundation. The night’s special guests include artists that worked with Redding and those that have been influenced by his work. The event is set to include appearances from Otis Redding III, Dexter Redding, Warren Haynes, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Marcus King, Cropper, Paul Janeway of St. Paul and the Broken Bones, Ty Taylor and more.
