Marco Benevento took over Nashville’s High Watt this weekend, welcoming guests like Cage the Elephant guitarist Nick Bockrath, country artist Katie Schecter and singer-songwriter Madi Diaz for a fun-filled Saturday night.

Bockrath and Schecter jumped onstage with Benevento and fellow band members Karina Rykman (bass) and Andy Borger (drums) for “In The Afternoon Tomorrow” off of Benevento’s newest LP The Story of Fred Short. (Bockrath and Benevento’s friendship dates back to their days on the Philadelphia jamband circuit.)

The Cage the Elephant guitarist stayed onstage for “Dropkick” and later, Diaz emerged to sing on “Limbs of a Pine” and “Jump Into the Fire.” All three musicians returned for “At the Show” near the end of the night.

Benevento will perform at New Orleans’ Blue Nile this evening and return to the High Watt on Saturday.
