Leftover Salmon will return with their new album Something Higher on May 4 via their own LoS Records, and the band has shared a new track from the effort, “Places,” which debuted over at Guitar World.

Something Higher was recorded in Tucson, AZ, with producer Steve Berlin of Los Lobos and features all analogue recording techniques.

“The first thing we worked on when we arrived in Tucson was ‘Places’,” keyboardist Erik Deutsch tells Guitar World. “Drew [Emmitt] had written a stellar hook and some great verses about his travels; all it needed was a little extra ‘something.’ So with Steve Berlin’s guidance, I came up with the cascading intro melody and then the chords for the bridge and solo section. We plugged in those chords again for the song’s outro, and voila—‘Places’ was ready to go.”
