moe. opened up a two-night stand at the Palace Theatre in Albany, NY, last night for a show that served as somewhat of a homecoming for the Buffalo-via-Albany band after their return from hiatus earlier this year. The night featured some newer tunes and live staples, plus a guest spot from Aqueous guitarist Mike Gantzer.

Set one kicked off with “Jazz Wank” and also featured “I Can Never Remember,” a song written by percussionist Jim Loughlin and debuted at The Capitol Theatre early this month. As JamBase reports, to close out the set, the band welcomed Gantzer, who opened the show with Aqueous, another Buffalo-hailing jam outfit. Gantzer lent his guitar chops to “Waiting for the Punchline.”

Set two opened with “Deep This Time” into the regionally appropriate “New York City” before another newer song, guitarist Al Schnier’s “What Can I Say,” which was also debuted during that Capitol Theatre run. The set would also include some impressive extended improvisation in “She” and closed with the moe classic “Happy Hour Hero” before an encore performance of “Downward Facing Dog.”
