Joe Russo’s Almost Dead wrapped up a three-night run in the Northeast on Saturday night, playing at the State Theatre in Portland, ME, after hitting two venues in Upstate New York the previous nights. To mark the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, the band worked in their debut of a holiday-appropriate Ween cover for the night’s encore.

The night also featured the regular Almost Dead offerings of Grateful Dead classics, as the band ran through tunes like “Playing in the Band,” “Althea,” “Eyes of the World,” “Brown-Eyed Women,” “New Minglewood Blues,” “Loser” and more before returning to the stage for an encore cover of Ween’s “The Blarney Stone” off that band’s 1997 album The Mollusk. Dave Dreiwitz, who also plays bass in Ween, handled lead vocals on the tune.

The previous evening at Albany, NY’s Palace Theatre, Almost Dead had some fun with a slew of Phish teases throughout the night. In all, the band offered snippets of Phish tunes “Bathtub Gin,” “Chalk Dust Torture,” “Divided Sky,” “Cavern,” “Foam” and “Llama” over the two sets.
