Legendary Meters bassist George Porter Jr. sat-in with Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk on March 17, delighting Philadelphia music fans assembled at the city’s Theatre of Living Arts.

Porter appeared for the band’s third song, sliding into the funk groove of The Meters’ “The World Is A Bit Under The Weather” also known as “Doodle-Oop.”

Following Porter’s single-song appearance and a few other tunes, the band closed their single set with a trio of covers—the Eagles’ “Life in the Fast Lane,” Buddy Miles Express’ “United Nations Stomp” and Sly Stone’s “Sing A Simple Song“—before ending with the anthemic original “Justice.”

Dumpstaphunk encored with Parliament’s “Up For The Downstroke” and their own “Dancin’ To The Truth.”
