Later this month, while New Orleans celebrates another year of Jazz Fest offerings, photographer Michael Weintrob will present a pop-up exhibit celebrating his project and book Instrumenthead.

The exhibit will take place at Jacques Imo’s gallery and will feature images from Instrumenthead, for which Weintrob photographed a number of musicians with their faces obscured by the various instruments for which they are known, along with live music, food and a book-signing.

The Instrumenthead exhibition opens April 27 with a launch party benefitting the New Orleans Musicians’ Assistance Foundation and featuring music from Papa Mali and Bobby Vega, and will run through May 6.

“I am so excited to return to New Orleans to share my work,” Weintrob says. “New Orleans is one of the cultural epicenters of the planet for music, food, and art, and I’m honored to exhibiting my Instrumenthead portraits and book in a way that can give back to the community.”
