After welcoming him for a batch of blues standards on Wednesday night in Bethlehem, PA, Gov’t Mule once again collaborated with Hook Herrera at the Warner Theatre in Erie, PA, last night, including for the band’s debut cover of a Tom Petty classic.

That debut came near the end of the first set, which also featured Mule staples like opener “Soulshine” and a single from their latest album, “Stone Cold Rage.” Herrera came out after that tune to help out on Petty’s “You Don’t Know How It Feels.”

Herrera returned in the second frame for a run of four songs, starting with “Lay Your Burden Down,” continuing with a pair of Howlin’ Wolf songs, “Smokestack Lightning” and “Wang Dang Doodle,” and closing with Van Morrison’s “He Ain’t Give You None.” Herrera and Mule would later round out the show with a collaborative encore of “Get Behind the Mule.”
