Dead & Company opened up a two-night stand at Citi Field in Queens, NY, on Friday night, and the band capped off the performance by offering a loving tribute to their late friend Chris Charucki.

Before the remembrance, which came during the night’s encore, Dead & Co. delivered a two-set performance of Grateful Dead favorites and more, kicking off the night with set one that opened with “Shakedown Street” into “Alabama Getaway” and included “Sugaree” and a set-closing run of “The Music Never Stopped” into “Easy Answers.” The group returned for set two and opened with a jam on John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme” that segued into “The Other One.” The mostly seamless set also included “Althea,” “Terrapin Station,” a return to “A Love Supreme” and “The Other One” and a “U.S. Blues” closer.

For the encore, guitarist Bob Weir emerged wearing an open, black Misfits shirt, which belonged to Charucki, and images of the longtime Dead road manager—who worked closely with various iterations of the band from 1993 until his passing earlier this year —were displayed during the encore performance of “Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad.”
