After over two decades of animosity, it appears that The Kinks are getting back together.

As frontman Ray Davies recently told The Telegraph despite some friction between his bandmates Dave Davies and Mick Avory, he hopes they will “play harder, and with fire” as they did in the past.

The band hopes to “recapture those moments” in a new studio album, which was also confirmed by Davies. “I’ve got all these songs that I wrote for the band when we – not broke up – parted company, and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it,” he says.

The Kinks have teased the idea of a reunion for years, with Davies making public statements as recently as 2015, that he wanted the band to get back together.

In the Telegraph interview he also points to The Rolling Stones – an older band that still tours internationally – as an inspiration for the Kinks reunion.

However he is sure to clarify his statement: “It won’t be well-organized like the Rolling Stones. You must praise the Rolling Stones for being great at publicity and a great band great at organizing their careers and Mick [Jagger] has done an incredible PR job and it’s kind of inspiring to see them doing it. But The Kinks will probably be playing the local bar.”
