In celebration of the 50th anniversary of their seminal debut album Music From Big Pink, which falls on July 1, legendary outfit The Band are preparing to release a deluxe reissue package of the record, with remastered tracks, alternate takes and more.

As described in the video below, the upcoming edition of the album, set for release on August 31 in various formats, includes new stereo mixes from the original four-track analog masters, and six outtakes and alternate versions from the Big Pink sessions (including a previously unreleased a cappella version of “I Shall Be Released”). Also available in the anniversary box set will be a book featuring an essay from noted Rolling Stone writer David Fricke and photos from Band photographer Elliott Landy, a newly mixed 2-LP set, a reproduction of the original 7-inch single with “The Weight” and “I Shall Be Released” and more.
