Joe Russo’s Almost Dead were clearly excited to be performing a hometown show in Brooklyn on Thursday night, so much so that they debuted a cover of fellow NYC group Spacehog as well as a new Muddy Waters tune.

Kicking off the first set, JRAD got the crowd moving with a “Bertha,” followed by a “Throwing Stones” with Scott Metzger leading the charge with his growling vocals.

Later, after the band worked through “Black Peter,” “The Eleven” and “Feel Like A Stranger,” they closed the first half with a singalong of “Franklin’s Tower.”

Set two kicked off with a freeform improv that eventually built into “Truckin’.” Rebel anthem “The Other One” followed, as did the classic pairing of “Help”> “Slip.”

The audience was then surprised to hear a cover of “In The Meantime” by Brits-turned-New Yorkers Spacehog.

Lastly, JRAD dove into a full “Terrapin Station Suite,” and encored with a fitting tribute to the beautiful venue of Prospect Park with their first-ever take on Muddy Waters’ “Walking Through The Park.”
