Phish’s summer tour moved down the coast to San Francisco on Tuesday night for a show at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, the band’s first of two nights at the venue.

Trey Anastasio led the way on energetic show opener “46 Days,” which preceded a couple of rarer Phish offerings, “McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters” and “Pigtail,” the latter of which is more often seen in the TAB repertoire. The crowd-pleasing cover of Talking Heads’ “Cities” was up next, leading into the bluegrass tune “Nellie Kane.”

“Gumbo” kicked off the second half of the set, followed by the eclectic “Guyute,” and the first frame was wrapped up with a run of
Chilling, Thrilling cut “The Dogs,” “Dirt” and crowd favorite “David Bowie.”

Phish began set two with the first tour repeat of the summer, “The Moma Dance, kicking off a nearly seamless run of songs that included “Mercury,” one of the few newer tunes on the night, and a funky, extended jam of “Carini.” Set two then closed with Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman” and a 14-minute “Harry Hood.” For the encore, Phish unleashed “The Squirming Coil,” with Page McConnell closing out the show with some solo piano work, as his bandmates conceded the stage for the final notes.

See the full setlist below. Phish return to the Bill Graham stage tonight for round two, which the band will offer as a free webcast. The new Relix and Osiris video series Couch Report will also be covering the show.
