At the tail end of their July 25 show in Southaven, Miss., Tedeschi Trucks Band invited 19-year-old blues guitarist Christone “Kingfish” Ingram to play on the Allman Brothers classic “Statesboro Blues.”

Earlier in the evening, the band ran through originals like “Made Up Mind” and “All That I Need” before dipping into a string of covers from Bob Dylan’s “Down in the Flood” to “Loving You is Sweeter Than Ever” by the Four Tops.

Tedeschi Trucks Band closed their single set with “I Pity the Fool” by Bobby “Blue” Bland and their own “Idle Wind” off of 2013’s Made Up Mind.

For their encore, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi welcomed Kingfish to the stage for “Statesboro Blues.” After Trucks ran through a few riffs and Tedeschi sang a verse or two, the teenager let loose, laying into a soulful blues-rock solo.

“Give it up for Chris ‘Kngfish’ Ingram, everybody!” Tedeschi said afterwards.
