Brooklyn indie-rock outfit Rubblebucket will release their newest studio album, Sun Machine, on August 24, and today the band has shared another preview of the effort with new single “Annihilation Song.”

The new track, which can be heard below (the video is also available via Apple Music) fits in with the album’s chronicling of the romantic breakup of Rubblebucket’s main creative forces Kalmia Traver and Alex Toth, along with their continued musical relationship.

“In some ways this song is the anthem for Kal and I’s break up as a romantic duo and perseverance in following through with our creative and friendship partnership,” Toth says in a press release. “To me it sort of represents all our years of obstacles, hardships and liberating experiences in following our dreams with this band. There’s a crucial lyric in this song on the last chorus that got kind of obscured: ‘This is annihilation/ it could be a liberation/ I’m down for the count but I’ll be gettin up soon enough.’”

Rubblebucket have also extended their 2018 tour schedule, adding some fall dates, and will host their annual Dream Picnic mini-festival on September 8 in Holyoke, MA. See their schedule below (ticketing information available here), and pre-order Sun Machine here.
