From The Editor: Dean Budnick

I am about to send David "XZZYZX" Steinberg into apoplexy. Okay, maybe not quite but trust me, he'll be astonished when he sees this. Why? Well month in, month out, my editorial has been the final section I have floated his way- typically at the twenty-fifth hour after I have reviewed everything else. But this month I am submitting it a few days early because I am a man in transit. No, not quite a musical road trip, although there will be tunes. No, instead because we're pulling up stages and moving to RI (the new home of Jambands.com Plaza). There you have it, a Budnickian tidbit.

Now that I think about it though, since it's the appropriate time of year to yap about one's family (and I just did), let me take it a step further and show you a baby picture (okay, a toddler picture)

This is a picture of my daughter that was bumped out of the forthcoming Pharmers Almanac. The new editor asked me for a picture of myself but I decided I would be far more satisfied with a picture of Caroline. So here she is. Sadly, when they sent me a preview copy a few days back, Caroline didn't make the final cut (Waful did though, Jammy in hand). Anyhow, they ended up with a free plug, which should make them happy even if they gave my beautiful, brainy daughter the thumbs down (bastards).

Yes, all that is boring, I know. What's new with the site you ask? Well come to think of it gaze up at the shirt my daughter is wearing- we're just starting to make Plans for Jammys 2001 (and if you thought last year ripped...)

Beyond that, all is moderately quiet. Be sure to check in regularly this month though, we have a few announcements we'll be making regarding new features, events, etc. Quality entertainment, I promise.

Incidentally, November is a fine time for music (plenty of bands on the road). In fact when we had our jam band holiday poll a few weeks ago, moe.manager Topper got on my case because we didn't include the Saturday after Thanksgiving (although personally I'm a bigger than of the Friday after Thanksgiving when everyone's really itching to get out). Anyhow, to illustrate my point, on November 17, my local shows include: Disco Biscuits in New Haven, moe in Worcester, Derek Trucks Band at a casino in Uncasville, CT, and Bruce Hornsby at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston. There are plenty more I don't even know about yet, I'm sure. Of course I'll be in mid-move so we'll see how it goes but I have good friends who will be representing at all of the above.

I reckon that's it. Oh yes, the navigation for Tour Links is on the way (no really, ask Erica...) Benjy will be back soon too.

later days and peace,
Dean
