The Tao of Wu

Hi folks.

I can't believe how much touring we've done since June. Over 100 shows from East to West. Its beginning to touch on insanity; the snoring, the cow-chewing food eaters, the multi-personalities that shed themselves outta everyone from time to time. Its a real trip. But thankfully the shows have made all of these little nit-picky things seem so insignificant. There is a long road ahead.

Last night I was at the Medeski show in Minneapolis and enjoyed myself thoroughly. There are so many great musicians to see and so little time to see it. My big thing is about songwriting. Is there a band out there that can lyrically feed my soul as much as musically get my groove on? Still waiting and open to suggestions. I want to hear lyrics in music that seem as though the two could not exist but for each other. Dylan wrote magic. I think there has to be some bands out there that have incredible lyrics. Don't turn the radio on to look for it either. Cripes. I'm so angry about that...angry in a good way, like I want to take action about it.

One good thing about popular radio is that Santana is making a comeback. While that song with Rob Thomas is gettin' old, can't help but give Kudos to the man. I think popular music is finally figuring out that sheik, sensationalized, glamourized, egocentric crap is just not flying with the majority of people in this country anymore. Even TLC has a song that is "all about taking off the makeup and being all natural and its all about you on the inside" (ironically they are caked with makeup in the whole video) But at least there is a message than could be interpreted as new by pop music fans. I fear the worst for Mary Kay and Tommy Hilfiger. Actually I'm praying for the worst....
