Next time we'll run a question or two from our Halloween contest. This
month we have some questions of a global nature. Sweden's Nils
Hallberg emailed a few inquiries which we passed along to Lee Crumpton of
the Home Grown Music Network. Here they are...
Q- What do you actively do to spread the word outside the USA? (Besides
the web site)? Any plans at all?
A- We currently have customers from over 20 countries. Some are DJs that
are spinning the tunes on their local airways. Some are writers who write
about
the music in their publications. Of course the web site and all the
information, music, Home Grown Radio and other resources it provides is
available worldwide. This week we are sending our catalogs to all the
folks who are on our international mailing list. We're always looking for
new opportunities to spread the music - wherever
that potential fan may be.
Q- What channels are used, any concerts coming up, any deals with local
CD-shops?
A- We have several CD shops in Japan & Italy that are stocking our
product.
Good music is very popular in those areas. One of the stores in Tokyo also
promotes concerts. In the past year they hosted Juggling Suns, David Nelson
Band, Lake Trout and MMW.
Q- Are "jambands" an all alone American trend, or will it be spread "all
over"?
A- Truly great music has no boundaries! Aliens are probably getting their
fix too!
Q- Do you seek bands "all over"?
A- Yes, but we've not yet received material from any bands outside the USA
that have passed our quality control process. [editor's note- Lee, you
need to give a listen to our New Groove of the month, Canada's The New
Deal. BTW, if anyone out there in other countries (I know you're out
there, I read our web stats) knows of bands we should cover at the site,
please let us know...)
