Speaking of new, there are some SICK new discs coming out...Miracle Orchestra and Medeski, Martin, and Wood both have new releases due on October 24. Also on the way are two new titles from Phoenix Rising, The Big Wu's "Folktales" and Ozric Tentacles "The Hidden Step". Wise Monkey Orchestra - "They Live" CD - More flammable disco-funk psychedelia from this west coast outfit! This new CD was recorded live and features new songs like "Hell Ain't for Me" as well as favorites like "Grass Skirt". Features a guest appearance by sax player Dave Ellis (The Other Ones, Ratdog). $14.00

Merl Saunders - "Struggling Man" CD - Backed by Toronto's jazz-rock group One Step Beyond and their spirited horns, Merl provides more of the bluesy funk that has made him a legend. The CD was recorded live and features a magnificent performance of the Grateful Dead's "Franklin's Tower". $15.00

Various Artists - Music from the Motion Picture "Around the Fire" CD - Now this is a mix CD! There's nary a dull moment through all 14 tracks on this disc, which boasts everything from modern jazz to classic rock. It even has live tracks from String Cheese Incident and The Grateful Dead! Other artists include Vinyl, Living Daylights, The Meters, The Wild Tchoupitoulas, Bob Marley, Freddie Hubbard, Blind Faith, and more! $15.00

Frogwings - "Croakin' at Toad's" CD - Your ears will thank you! This super-CD features the lineup of the century: Derek Trucks and Jimmy Herring on guitar, Oteil Burbridge on bass, Butch Trucks on drums, Kofi Burbridge on flute and keys, John Popper on harmonica and vocals, and Marc Quinones on percussion. Bob Weir and Ratdog - "Evening Moods" CD - At long last! This is the debut release from this increasingly popular project featuring the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, former Primus drummer Jay Lane, sax-man Dave Ellis (of Charlie Hunter projects and Wise Monkey Orchestra fame), bass legend Rob Wasserman, guitarist Matthew Kelly, and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. Styles range from classic Bobby-rock to mellow, introspective "Evening Moods". $16.00

The Meters - "Trick Bag" and "New Directions" CDs - Serious funk! These classic releases from New Orleans legends The Meters are sure to fulfill your groove jones, plus they make every day a little more like Jazz Fest! Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey - "Bloom" CD - This disc, comprised of live recordings from 1996 - 1998, captures the many moods and jaw-dropping talent of this dynamic Oklahoma jazz outfit. From Zappa-like hijinks to peaceful, sublime grooves, this band covers a huge part of the musical spectrum. $11.00

David Nelson Band - "Wires, Hearts, and Magic" Video - This is a full-length video that gives the viewer an inside look at the recording of David Nelson Band's "Visions Under the Moon" CD. You'll watch tracks like "Fable of a Chosen One" and "The Wheel" come together in the studio, along with plenty of band footage. $18.00
