Big Gigantic was formed by Dominic Lalli (saxophonist/producer) and Jeremy Salken (drums), in 2008. The group has been gaining fans and exposure through relentless touring and by distributing their albums via free downloads. Their latest album A Place Behind the Moon, can also be downloaded for free but if you want the bonus track, a collaboration with STS9 you should purchase the release. Big Gigantic is signed to STS9’s 1320 records and has a similar, cathartic atmosphere to their tracks and live shows.

Big Gigantic seems less song driven than STS9 but they are our equally unique in their approach to electronic music. Big Gigantic seems to focus more on hardcore, infectious beats, that can instantly transform a crowd into a dance party. The first track off their album “Sky High” embodies this description with a boom bap, hip hop drum beat, heavy production and sparse catchy instrumental hooks. You can easily hear influences of those who paved such as Prefuse 73 and RJD2.

“Driftin” is an example of their approach to big beat, anthemic songs while “Lucid Dream” features a long, complex, saxophone solo. “Sky High” has a jazz flavor mixed in, while staying consistent with the empowering, thematic music of the album.
