Bomber/Universal

After putting their differences aside in 2010, Dispatch returns with Circles Around the Sun, their first full length album since 2000. Longtime fans will love the brotherly vocal harmonies on tracks such as the jangly title cut and the banjo laced foot-stomper “Get Ready Boy.” “Sign of the Times” features shimmering electric guitar, harrowing percussion and ghostly vocal melodies to create an eerie vibe, while the easy-going musical vibe of “Josephine” belies the lyrical heartbreak of this one-sided lovers lament. The layered vocals and atmospheric production on
“We Hold a Gun” bury the song in ambience at points, while its verses, with acoustic guitar and organ, relay a dark, haunting mood that warrants close, repeated listens. Closer “Feels So Good” is a lovely sing-a-long, drenched with swelling organ and dulcimer. Dispatch fans old and new will embrace Circles Around the Sun.
