On September 13th & 14th, 2011 Zach Deputy and a few friends from the Ryan Montbleau Band visited the Rockwood Music Hall, NY, NY in celebration of Zach Deputy’s latest CD release Another Day. With Zach Deputy at the helm on guitar and vocals, James Cohen on drums, Jason Cohen on keys and Matt Giannaros on bass and backing vocals they played a total of 4 shows (2 each night). Instead of his normal setup where Zach is often hidden, he was seated front and center with just his guitar and surrounding musicians. Zach Deputy in normal fashion with his soulful voice and jovial personality and at one point joked with the crowd as they shouted out request for songs like “Chicken Pot Pie” and “Tube Steak” that he wouldn’t be playing any of them but instead would be doing something that he’s never done before and will probably never do again: play the entire new CD in order. Another surprise was the addition of a Ray Charles cover song.

The tiny venue which couldn’t have held but a couple a hundred people, is located on the lower east side of New York City, is elegant and perfect in both sound and ambiance for a party such as this. The musicians, who admittedly only played together a couple of times prior to the show were tight knit and showed that they were enjoying playing the experience. The young crowd was exactly what you would expect from a New York scene and all seemingly enjoyed the new material and clowned along with Zach throughout to everyone’s delight. In all the party was a lot of fun had by all and the new material was welcomed by the crowd as Zach poured his heart out in the many heartfelt tunes from the new CD.
