NedFest, Nederland, CO- 8/28-30

The 17th annual Nedfest music festival, in gorgeous Nederland, CO took place on August 28-30. How I have never attended this one of a kind event, now seems shocking, to me. This well crafted celebration of vendors, food, art, and exceptional music is, by far, the best-kept secret, of summer festivals going on, in the country.

Set next to the pristine Baker reservoir, amidst the canyon walls, of Nederland, is the most stunning space, for this intimate event. The capacity is about 2,000 and when full feels like 500, with plenty of space to dance, relax, and check out the plethora of vendors, various cuisines, and micro brew beers. The ambiance is that of an elaborate backyard party, with all the bells and whistles of a major concert production. The event is extremely family friendly, with arts and crafts, for children and adults, alike. Musically, it is a mix of bluegrass, jazz, and rock, with renowned musical acts that included Gipsy Moon, MarchFourth, Intuit, The Hard Working Americans, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Vince Herman and Friends, and Cracker, with a mix of ‘tweener’ acts, that made for a wonderfully long and fulfilling weekend, of great jams and unique collaborations.

If you are looking for an extremely relaxed end of summer event, with wonderful people, and located in a incomparably beautiful location, Nedfest is not to be missed. A special thanks is in order to the extremely friendly staff and volunteers that worked hard, to put it all together. In my many years of musical adventures, I have never experienced a more positive and intimate gathering. Personally, I will make it a point to attend this event, for what is sure to be years to come. Do yourself a favor and put Nedfest on the ‘not to be missed’ list for next year.
