Jenny Pearson writes
"What is the story with the all the new message boards? Do you really need that many boards? I was happy with the ones that were there and I find the new ones somewhat confusing and frankly unnecessary. Is there any chance you can go back to the old format with fewer boards?"
Dean responds
"Without question this was the most common question we received this month. The idea for the regional boards was brought to me by one of our contributors- the concept was that if we had message boards devoted to particular sections of the country that we could help foster communities, create support networks, find tour buddies and so forth (we also thought that bands and fans of bands that are really not national acts yet but are starting to build audiences in particular areas of the country could use this resource as well). This month we hope to encourage that a bit further by moving the regional boards into the various regional sections. Hopefully that will help matters, and people can still use the general taper and ticket boards for trades, make connections through the musicians board (I see the posts there and I am waiting to see a band that emerges out of that board). However, if after another month it is obvious that people just aren't all that excited by the geographic boards, we'll dump them and move back to the old format. Let's see what happens."
