Inaudible Hiss
by Dean Budnick - budnick@fas.harvard.edu

No Mikey this month- our irregular friend is off...(well insert bad laxative joke here). Instead we have some info about a jamband related humor site which exists elsewhere on the web. As with Mikey, please remember, your mileage may vary...

VENGEFUL BUDDHA HITS THE HIGH NOTES!
by Dave Bienenstock

Vengeful Buddha is going to be the band that propels the jam-band scene beyond its wildest imaginations -- and you've never heard of them. This up-and-coming quintet isn't on your tape-traders list, you've never seen them live (even if you think you have), and they won't be playing a late-night set in the parking lot of Phish's New Year's Eve bash.

There's a very simple reason for Vengeful Buddha's obscurity -- I made them up. The band exists only in our imaginations, and of course on the internet.

That's right, in the proud tradition of Spinal Tap and the Monkees, Vengeful Buddha (www.vbuddha.com) is the web's first fictitious band.

Far more than just the typical "band site," with bios, lyrics, tour dates, and pictures, the Vengeful Buddha Web Experience takes you into the world of the Buddhas, including all the usual, plus regular columns, special features, juicy gossip, cartoons, the famous "Ask a College Drop-Out" advice column, and the most talkative parrot around. Follow their adventures both on-stage, and at the communal house the band shares on the campus of mythical Hempsted College.

For everyone that has ever been in a marginally successful college band, or has just dreamed about it, The Vengeful Buddha Web Experience is your kind of place.

So check out the site (when you get a chance), and then send along an email and let me know what you think. If you find yourself laughing, and most people have been, why not spread that around and email your friends with our address (www.vbuddha.com).

But first, to get you started, here are some lyrics -- taken from the first track on Vengeful Buddha's debut album, "Shake."

Granola Blues

She's got hairy legs,
but no worse than mine
She's got hairy, hairy pits,
but that suits me fine

It's the way she calls me sunshine,
when I feel like rain
The way she feeds my hunger,
but doesn't feel my pain
Her pretty scented candles,
are driving me insane

Granola blues,
they come and they stay
I've got granola blues
and she won't go away

Her granola friends are laughing
they come over every day
Spill bongwater on the rug
and they smell like hay

A granola night
after a granola day
I ask her to leave
and she tells me to stay

It's those granola blues, man
they come and they stay
I've got granola blues
and she won't go away
