The Roots at The Bowl

The Roots closed out a busy 2010 with a sold out show at Brooklyn Bowl. Without an opening act, the Roots played three sets of music that went past 4 AM. The set consisted of songs ranging from their early albums to both their 2010 releases How I Got Over and Wake Up, including a stirring rendition of “Dear God 2.0” that featured Captain Kirk Douglas on lead vocals instead of Jim James, who was featured on the album version. The Roots also brought a brass band from their home city of Philadelphia to sit in and also to second-line through the crowd mid-way through the night.
