Here’s a piece on the Nigel Hall Band’s set from last night’s Royal Family Holiday Rage at Brooklyn Bowl. Images and text by Marc Millman

Nigel Hall’s opening set was special as always. Backed by Deitch on drums, Kras on bass, Smirnoff on guitar and Neal Evans sitting in for some second keyboard support, the band was as soulful as one would expect. And the two background singers including Alecia Chakour who like Nigel just came off Warren Haynes tour helped to nicely fill out the sound. We can only hope that with Warren going back to Gov’t Mule to end the year and taking some overdue time off to become a family man that Nigel & Alecia will give us some more of their great sets with their own bands.
