Wavy Gravy has been the recipient of numerous notable birthday bashes over the years. Last year Phil & Friends performed at a SEVA Benefit in his honor at the Berkeley Community Theater. In 2001, to mark his 65th birthday, Mickey Hart, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassidy, Dr. John, Indigenous, Paul Kantner, Pete Sears, Maria Muldaur, Diana Mangano, and Box Set were on hand. In 2006, to celebrate his 70th, the SEVA Foundation will once again receive proceeds from a night of music that will feature RatDog, Mickey Hart and Friends, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, David Lindley, John Trudell, Hamza el Din and the birthday boy himself. The event will take place on Saturday, May 20 at the Berkeley Community Theatre, with some special receptions also available to those who make donations in support of SEVA.

Scott Harding who produced Logics last release, The Anamoly, is back on board for The Zen of Logic which currently has a July release date.
MMW, WW and Lang: More Snowmass in June
On the heels of yesterday’s Jazz Aspen Snowmass artist announcement, the famous ski town has announced another June gathering. From June 9-11, Snowmass, CO will host its third annual Chili Pepper & Brew Fest www.snowmasspress.com/mountainmusic featuring over 40 microbrews and a chili tasting boasting an international assortment of flavors. As in years past, the multi-day gathering will also feature a number of choice musical acts, including Medeski Martin & Wood, Jonny Lang, Trevor Hall and Sean Costello. Before MMW’s performance, Chris Wood will also offer a set of music with his brother Oliver as the Wood Brothers.
Keller Williams Lends Weight to RatDog
As many of our readers already know, Keller Williams grew up listening to the Dead, catching each of the groups Deer Creek performances from 1989 to 1995 (as documented in part via his live staple, Gatecrashers Suck). In 2001, Williams scored a spot on RatDogs So Many Roads Tour, performing with Bob Weir three times throughout the summer. To have Bobby in my in-ear monitor and playing next to me, Williams told Relix in 2004, I was definitely one big grin. On Monday, Williams was no doubt grinning again after he joined RatDog onstage at Washington, DCs Warner Theatre for the Band’s The Weight. Williams will perform at Pittsburghs Mr. Smalls tonight, while RatDog will be at Syracuse, NYs Landmark Theatre tomorrow.
