Jammys to Take Place Tonight, Additional Performers Announced

George Porter Jr., who will be presented a Jammy for lifetime achievement, has also decided to perform with Soulive at tonights second annual Jammys at Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Black Thought and Talib Kweli will also take the stage with Soulive. Stanley Jordan as well as other surprise guests will join the Meters tribute jam at the conclusion of the event. A journalist and a musician will present Porter the lifetime achievement award, which he will be accepting on behalf of the Meters and the Funky Meters.
Other performers include New York Yankee Bernie Williams, who will play guitar with Jazz Mandolin Project, Lake Trout featuring Marky Ramone and Jerry Only, The Del McCoury Band featuring Robert Randolph and DJ Logic, Tom Tom Club featuring Michael Franti (Spearhead), Col. Bruce Hampton & Friends featuring the Steve Kimock Band & Derek Trucks, The Disco Biscuits featuring John Popper, Les Claypool’s Frog Brigade featuring Junior Brown and The Derek Trucks Band, who will be the house band for the evening.
Paul Shaffer will present the award for Jam of the Year and is expected to join the musical festivities. Comedian Jim Breuer will host the event.

Phil & Friends Kick off Summer Tour; Warren Haynes Collaborates with Flea

Phil Lesh & Friends kicked off its summer tour last night at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, CA. Lesh’s current band consists of Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring on guitar, John Molo on drums and Rob Barraco on keyboards. The quintet has tonight and tomorrow off and will perform Saturday at the Greek Theater in Berekely, CA. The complete summer schedule is available at www.phillesh.net.

Jerry Joseph Sits in with Widespread Panic

Jerry Joseph performed with Widespread Panic last night at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX. Joseph (Jerry Joseph & The Jackmormons) played guitar and sang during Love is Like Water and ‘Chainsaw City towards the end of the second set.

Tuesday at Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas, Joseph joined the band for Chilly Water > Road to Damascus > Chilly Water.

Sonia Dada Releases Summer Dates

Sonia Dada has confirmed its summer itinerary. The tour begins July 5 at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI . The band will play the KBCO World Rockfest in Winter Park, CO on July 21 and 22. Other groups performing include The Radiators, Ozomatli, Leftover Salmon, Semisonic, Sheryl Crow, Leo Nocentelli, Robert Bradley’s Blackwater Surprise, Joan Osborne and Melissa Etheridge. Sonia Dada will also take the stage July 26 at the Music in the Plaza Summer Concert Series in San Jose, CA, August 2 at Simon Estes Amphitheatre in Des Moines, IA and August 26 at the Goose Island Festival in Chicago, IL.
