Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi Tie the Knot

Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi were married yesterday at Amelia Island in Florida. The service was performed by Aubrey Ghent, a pedal steel guitar player, who is also an ordained minister. The newlyweds are expecting their first child, a son, this spring.

Legends Lounge to Close

After more than six years, Las Vegas venue Legends Lounge has announced that it will be closing its doors in January. Mood Food, featuring Vince Welnick of the Grateful Dead, will play the final shows at the club on January 10 and 11. Tea Leaf Green will open both nights.

Legends Productions along with the Las Vegas Jamband Society will continue to promote shows in the area.

Members of Jiggle and Miracle Orchestra to Collaborate

Jiggle keyboardist Paul Wolstencroft has formed a new side project called Knockout. The line-up features bassist Garrett Sayers (Miracle Orchestra, Phase iii) and drummer Brian Sayers. The trio plays Saturday at the Paradise in Boston, MA with the Big Wu, December 12 at Bills Bar in Boston, MA with SPANK! and December 29 at the Middle East Downstairs in Cambridge, MA with Dan Rockett and John Browns Body.

George Porter Jr., The Radiators and Papa Grows Funk to Play New Orleans Benefit

Several New Orleans bands will take the stage for a benefit show this Sunday, December 9 at the Howlin Wolf in New Orleans. Performers include George Porter Jr. and his Runnin’ Pardners, Cyril Neville, The Radiators, Papa Grows Funk and Mean Willie Green. Billed as Michelles Ball Y’all, the concert is a benefit for a local woman who suffered serious injuries from a car accident. Michelle is the wife of Rock Tornabene, who has worked in the New Orleans music scene for years, with such bands as the Neville Brothers and The Radiators. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Tornabene family to help pay for medical costs.
