Today, Jon Fishman reveals his newest project, as the Phish drummer is celebrating the grand opening of his Lincolnville General Store in Maine with a performance from his friends in The Mallett Brothers.

Fishman and his wife Briar previously owned the store and reacquired it last year with plans to refurbish and reopen this year. At the time, Briar explained the store’s local-focusing ethos, which will include the stocking of a wide range of organic foods and products made in the store itself. “Most markets don’t just sell their own stuff,” she says. “It takes the community to stock the shelves and we will be working with not only local farmers, but local bakers, local artisans and craftspeople.”

The family has continually become more invested in the local ongoings of their adopted hometown, with Jon winning a seat in the Lincolnville selectboard earlier this year. Their new store, situated at 269 Main St. in Lincolnville, ME, opens today with a performance from The Mallett Brothers, with whom Jon guested at a Maine fair in August, along another group of past collaborators, the Route 17 Ramblers. Jon Fishman will also sit in during the celebration.
