Yesterday, JamBase launched the inaugural episode of their new podcast, which will feature the site’s writers recapping music news and interviewing artists about various aspects of their careers, and the endeavor’s first outing led to the release of an archival recording from Phish’s 1997 fall tour.

The first episode of The JamBase Podcast (which includes a conversation with Reed Mathis) features a segment remembering that storied run of shows 20 years ago, with co-host David Onigman mentioning the nearly 30-minute “Simple” from Phish’s December 9 show at Penn State University. Onigman’s wish for an official recording of the live track was granted by Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro, and the “Simple” is now available for fan’s listening pleasure.

Below, listen to the sprawling “Simple,” played almost exactly two decades ago, and read more about the track here.
