Joe Russo’s Almost Dead brought their Grateful Dead tribute act to Boston’s House of Blues last night, opening up a two-night run at the venue that will close out the group’s schedule for 2017.

The evening featured a number of Dead classics along with improvisational offerings from the group, who were joined by a special guest throughout the night – Jerry Garcia’s iconic Wolf guitar, which was played by Almost Dead’s Tom Hamilton. Earlier this year, the guitar was auctioned off at Brooklyn Bowl, fetching a record amount to benefit the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Last night’s show kicked off with an energetic run of “Big Railroad Blues,” with Hamilton showing off Wolf with a bluesy solo. In both sets, Almost Dead used their improvisation to transition in between songs, along with segments like the jam in between two servings of “St. Stephen” near the end of the first frame. Set two also featured Dead classics like “Help On the Way” into “Slipknot!,” “Estimated Prophet” and “Morning Dew,” plus an encore of “Greatest Story Ever Told.”

See the full setlist below, along with fan-shot videos from the night. Almost Dead close out their 2017 touring schedule tonight at the House of Blues.
