Yo La Tengo played the second installment of their eight-night Hanukkah run at New York’s Bowery Ballroom last night, once again welcoming a few surprise guests and delivering originals and covers throughout the night.

As Brooklyn Vegan reports, the band paid homage to their openers Los Straitjackets by wearing masks for the beginning of their performance and welcoming the band themselves for an instrumental cover of Velvet Underground’s “Run Run Run.”

Harpist Mary Lattimore then joined the group on stage for the rest of their set, while John Doe, founder of LA punk outfit X, helped YLT out with their five-song encore that featured X’s tunes “The New World” and “Adult Books,” along with covers of Doe’s own “My Darling, Blue Skies,” Bob Dylan’s “Pressing On” and The Randoms’ “Let’s Get Rid of New York.”
