As an allusion to their Halloween “Ladies Night” set, Widespread Panic brought a gentlemanly vibe to the Fox Theater in Atlanta last night.

Male-centric songs like set-one openers “One Arm Steve” and “Henry Parsons Died” carried the “Gentleman’s” theme forward as favorites like “Space Wrangler” kept the crowd excited. Notable set one covers included Neil Young’s “Mr. Soul” and Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy,” last heard on 9/24/16 in St. Augustine, Fla.

Set two opened with Talking Heads’ “Papa Legba” and reached a peak during an extended “Tall Boy” jam. The jam eventually landed on Curtis Mayfield’s “Pusherman,” which Panic hasn’t played since July 2016.

The band closed with a “Blue Indian,” “Sleeping Man,” “Action Man” trio synching up the night’s theme and setting themselves up for tonight’s New Year’s Eve performance at the same venue.
