Real Estate, Whitney and Woods, three bands with long intertwined histories, closed out their first New Year’s Eve at New York’s new Brooklyn Steel. The festivities peaked during Real Estate’s closing set: The New Jersey-bred group played their Days song “All The Same” until the stroke of midnight and, then brought out the members of Whitney, Woods and other extended family members for a celebratory version of “Auld Lang Syne” as balloons and confetti dropped. From there, Real Estate busted into a take on New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give.” Alex Steinberg, a member of Real Estate bassist Alex Bleeker’s side-project The Freaks, also sat in on guitar and percussion throughout the group’s set.

Real Estate will kick off their winter tour at Boulder, CO’s Fox Theatre on February 18.
