Last night, Dave Matthews returned to New York’s Irving Plaza for the first time since 1994, playing a show with longtime collaborator and Dave Matthews Band guitarist Tim Reynolds. The performance wrapped up this past week’s Citi Sound Vault series of concerts that led up to last night’s Grammy Awards in New York.

Matthews kicked off the night solo with “Do You Remember” before Reynolds joined him for DMB staples like “Warehouse,” “Grey Street,” “Two Step,” “Samurai Cop” and “Don’t Drink the Water.” Reynolds then played solo on his own “Tangled Web We Weave,” then the duo continued with classics like “Lie in Our Graves,” “Satellite” and “Crush.”

Ben Golder-Novick, better known as Ben the Sax Guy, came out for a couple songs near the end of the set, helping out on “#41” and “Tripping Billies” before Matthews and Reynolds rounded out the set with “The Space Between,” “What Would You Say” and “Dancing Nancies.”

The end of the show stretched over three separate encores, starting with “Cornbread,” continuing with a duo of classic DMB cuts “Ants Marching” and “Crash Into Me” and closing out with the Matthews solo tune “Some Devil.”
