As first reported by Rolling Stone, Dead & Company will headline the LOCKN’ Festival in August, with four sets over two nights.

This will be a rare festival appearance for the band. Other than their Bonnarroo performance in 2016, Dead & Company usually stick to their own summer/fall tours.

That being said, individual members of the Dead and combinations thereof have become fixtures on LOCKN’s signature rotating stage.

In 2017, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh performed Terrapin Station together. They also played solo with acts like The Avett Brothers and moe. In 2015, Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann all jammed together during a Billy & The Kids set. And in the festival’s inaugural year, 2013, Weir, Lesh and Furthur played three sets including the entire Workingman’s Dead LP.

“We are honored to have Dead & Company headline back-to-back nights because it’s so rare,” LOCKN’ co-founder Peter Shapiro told Rolling Stone. “This festival was built on the spirit of the Grateful Dead so their performance is going to be a very big deal for Deadheads everywhere.”

LOCKN’ 2018 will take place from Aug. 23-26 in Arrington, Va. The festival will announce one act day-by-day until the full lineup is released Feb. 8.
