Phil Lesh and his collaborators in The Terrapin Family Band played the first of two shows at Portland, OR’s Crystal Ballroom last night, welcoming special guests Eric Krasno and vocalist Elliott Peck of Midnight North, along with surprise guest Mihali Savoulidis.

As Deadheadland note, the night featured a slew of Grateful Dead staples, opening with “Viola Lee Blues” and “Mr. Charlie” and including first-set renditions of “Uncle John’s Band,” “Box of Rain” and “I Know You Rider.” The second set dug into Dead favorites like “Scarlet Begonias,” “St. Stephen,” “The Other One,” “Help On the Way” > “Slipknot!” > “Franklin’s Tower” and more.

Savoulidis’ sit in came during the evening’s encore, as the Twiddle frontman and guitarist emerged for a run of the Dead singalong “Fire On the Mountain.” Watch a video of the collaboration below, taken from a Facebook Live broadcast by Twiddle’s page.
