moe. opened up a two-night stand at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, last night, marking the band’s return to the stage after taking a hiatus due to bassist Rob Derhak’s cancer diagnosis, treatment and subsequent recovery. The evening featured a couple new tunes from the band, along with plenty of celebration of Derhak’s return.

To mark the occasion, the upper level of The Cap seating section sported a “Welcome Back, Rob!” banner, and Derhak himself kicked off the show by addressing the audience and thanking the group’s fans for their support through his battle with cancer. (Opening act Kung Fu also nodded to the bassist; drummer Adrian Tramontano wore a rob. shirt and the band placed another t-shirt nodding to him on their gear.)

“I guess you’re not gonna get rid of me that easy,” Derhak began. “Thank you so much. The overwhelming amount of love and support that I got made it very easy for me to do what I did. I credit everybody here and elsewhere. Thank you so much.”

Appropriately, Derhak led the way on opening tune “Rebubula,” and the first set also featured the debut of “What Can I Say,” a new song headed up by guitarist Al Schnier. A second debut, this time from Derhak, came after the second-set opener “Silver Sun” and is titled “LL3.”

See the full setlist below, along with pro-shot video of each set opener and fan-shot video of the final few songs of the second set. moe. return to The Capitol Theatre stage tonight for round two.
