Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk have announced a special Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute entitled “Dumpsta Sugar Sex Majik.”
The show will take place on Friday April 27 at the Howlin’ Wolf in New Orleans, just as the city’s annual Jazzfest kicks off its first weekend.
Interestingly, Neville (along with George Porter Jr.) performed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers at 2016’s Jazzfest. The two NOLA mainstays added their sound to RHCP’s “Give It Away.”
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are not on the Jazzfest lineup this year, but on April 27 Dumpstaphunk will be joined by members of Naughty Professor and Chali 2na of Jurassic 5.
Neville will also join Anders Osborne’s headlining show at Howlin’ Wolf on April 28, alongside other guests like Samantha Fish, Eddie Roberts, and the Rebirth Brass Band.
