Nicki Bluhm will release her new album, To Rise You Gotta Fall, on June 1 via Compass Records, and the singer-songwriter has shared the record’s first single and title track.

The new album was recorded in Memphis’ Sam Phillips Recording studio and features a couple tunes co-written with Ryan Adams, along with production from Matt Ross-Spang, who has worked with Margo Price and Jason Isbell.

“These songs are quite personal,” Bluhm says in a release, which notes that the album’s tracks were written over a two-year period that included Bluhm’s divorce from ex-husband and former musical partner Tim Bluhm and her unexpected move to Nashville from California. “They are the conversations I never got to have, the words I never had the chance to say, and the catharsis I wouldn’t have survived without.”

Bluhm will head out on the road in support of the album starting April 11 in Minneapolis, MN, which kicks off a run supporting The Wood Brothers. All tour information can be found here.
