Last weekend, String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth was supposed to welcome his Umphrey’s McGee counterpart Joel Cummins for a show in UM’s hometown of Chicago, but Cummins had to bow out of the show due to the passing of his mother. Instead, Hollingsworth and his band decided to honor the keyboardist’s absence with a couple nods to the Chicago jamband.

At his show at Chicago’s Chop Shop, Hollingsworth worked a cover of Umphrey’s McGee’s “Soul Food” after “Pack It Up” near the end of the first set, then returned to the UM well for the instrumental “Glory” in the second. Hollingsworth and company also played the two tunes in similar fashion the following night in Milwaukee.

As JamBase report, Hollingsworth even bought a beer for the fans in attendance at the Chicago show to make up for Cummins’ absence. Below, see the night’s full setlist and a video of “Glory” from Hollingsworth’s Facebook page (with the caption “We miss you, Joel!”).
