St. Vincent, Toots and the Maytals, Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite and Glen Hansard are among the latest additions to the annual Newport Folk Festival. As previously reported, the classic roots gathering will take place at Newport Rhode Island’s Fort Adams State Park from July 27-29. Other recent additions include: Shakey Graves, Nels Cline’s Curtis Rogers Memorial Resonator Excursion, Cheech & Chong, Jenny Lewis, Tuck & Pati, Margo Price, Bermuda Triangle, Khruangbin and “The Sunday Groove” featuring Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Fruit Bats’ Eric D. Johnson has also recently announced the “Beneath The Sacred Mountain: A Cosmic American Revue,” featuring The Spacebomb House Band, Phil Cook, Josh Kaufman, Matthew E. White and assorted guests.

The festival’s stacked lineup also includes Courtney Barnett, Sturgill Simpson, The Wood Brothers, Lukas Nelson, Nicole Atkins, Jason Isbell, Lucius, The Lone Bellow, Gary Clark Jr. and Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam, among others.

In other news, Father John Misty has also confirmed a special show timed with the event. He will perform at Newport’s Jane Pickens Theater after the festival winds down on July 28. The event will benefit the Newport Festivals Foundation.
