Gov’t Mule played a well-rounded single set show in Mobile, Alabama on May 3, ending with Black Stone Cherry’s Chris Robertson and local guitarist Ben Jernigan jumping onstage for the finale.

The band opened with “Blind Man in the Dark” and surprised fans a few songs later with a cover of Steppenwolf’s “Don’t Step on the Grass, Sam.”

The second cover of the night came with the mid-set “Lively Up Yourself’ (originally by Bob Marley & The Wailers) which led into one of Gov’t Mule’s newer tunes “Dreams & Songs.”

A nice improv segment came within a “Broke Down on the Brazos”> “Tributary” jam, and the band eventually ended their set with “Thorazine Shuffle.”

The encore gave fans plenty of Allmans Brothers flare with an “I’ll Be The One”> “Blue Sky”> “I’ll Be The One” jam, followed by “Statesboro Blues,” the latter featuring Jernigan on guitar and Robertson on lead vocals.
